New work out video

Ok, so this girl in our work out class brought some new workout videos. They were awesome. The instructor's name is Jackie Warren. I guess she's a big wig in Holly wood. She kicked my fanny. She has the best core and ab routine. We did two of her workouts this week. I haven't been this sore since P90X. She charges $400 an hour for her penthouse gym.

A New Day

I went for a walk today - It felt good! I am going to do my best to stick to my schedule. I think if I could just start having some consistency on something in my life it would help. Thanks for all being great sisters!

Fast Sunday

Hey girls! I wanted to share something. At the time out for women the Eye's gave a suggestion of starting some family traditions. One that they suggested was to have every one in your family share their testimony around the dinner table on fast Sunday. We tried it this Sunday and it worked great. When we got to Hunter, he said that he didn't have a testimony. It was a really great teaching moment to teach him how to say the things that he believes. We are going to for sure make this a family tradition!!!

I miss you all

Hi Sisters, I miss you. Kim and I just had the best weekend at Time out for Women in Las Vegas. I wish we could have all gone together. I'm hoping that everyone will be able to come next year when they do it in St. George. We heard some wonderful messages of Hope and how to be delightful amid the stress of motherhood and marriage. I love you all and miss you. I am looking forward to seeing you all during the holidays!!

I Love My Sisters!!!!!!!!!!!

It's so great to have you post Melissa. It makes me feel so great that I'm not the only one who's days NEVER go as planned! I hope we can all keep posting. It helps me more than anything- even chocolate- and that's saying a lot!!! Love, Kim

I'm back! Where are you?

So, Shelly, Jill and I all sat down this week to start to organize our lives a little better with some lists. We started with an exercise list, then a meals list and then a weekly cleaning list. I got voted to post our lists as motivation (and a little accountability). This list posting was suppose to happen on Monday... so I got a little side tracked. I will post our "lists" and then stay tuned for a list of what really took place this week. Hopefully it will make you laugh as you take a step back and realize the importance of organizing your lives, but also the importance of leaving yourself some wiggle room. Life happens, and if you are too upset about it not going as planned, then you'll probably miss out on some really great times.

Cleaning List:

Mon: Laundry, sweep, mop

Tues: Vacuum and dust (pay bills)

Wed: Deep clean day (room or project of your choice)

Thurs: Laundry

Fri: bathrooms

Sat: Vacuum

Menu:

Mon: Oatmeal, rice and beans

Tues: eggs, lasagna

Wed: pancakes, homemade pizza or calzones

Thurs: oatmeal, taco soup

Fri: eggs, leftover night

Sat: pancakes, Parmesan chicken

Exercise:
Mon, Wed, Fri weights and cardio
Tues, Thurs yoga 5:45-6:45
Scriptures 7:15

Melissa's week:

Mon: walked the dog (does that count for cardio?), Did laundry all day, but put nothing away, and didn't finish the last two loads, swept and mopped right before dinner, then served artichokes and butter sauce which my kids dripped all over my freshly mopped floor. Read my scriptures!

Tues: Set my alarm for 5:00 to get to yoga, promptly shut it off and thought to heck with yoga as I fell back asleep. Kids ate cereal because I woke up late. Picked up Myles and Lauren so Bree and Jeremy could move into their house and kept them until bedtime. Had Samantha for a couple hours and also my friend Vera and her two boys. House full of kids = all fun, no dusting and vacuuming. Lauren pooed on her pants which got my laundry going again. I finished all the loads and only had two left to put away by bedtime. Brecklyn peed on the bathroom floor and covered it up with tons of toilet paper. So, the bathroom got cleaned, and the laundry got started again. Corbin and Adley busted out fevers of 101.7 and needed lots of extra lov'n. By the time six thirty rolled around I realized I really wasn't going to get that lasagna made and ordered pizza. Brecklyn peed the bed about 10:00pm which fired up the washer again. Read my scriptures!

Wed: Spilled a whole cup of juice on the kitchen floor (it's a sticky mess) Kept Corbin home because of yesterday's fever. Sent him to court with Jordan so I could go volunteer at the school. Came home and walked the dog (please tell me that counts for something). Took Corbin to school, oil changed in the car, breakfast cleaned up, kids fed lunch and down for naps, finished the pee laundry, then basketball practise at four, haircuts for the girls at five, basketball game at six and young women's at seven. I'm thinking deep cleaning day is going to be take a deep breath day instead.

Hope you all take a deep breath too! Lets start anew! Lets motivate each other!
Love you all!

Yummy idea for Lunch!

So I don't know if any of you have tried the Salmon burgers from Costco. My sister in law Jen introduced my to them. They are so yummy. Only 170 Calories and 20 grams of protein. You just fry it in a non stick pan, 4 minutes on each side. I steamed some vegies to go with it and walla you have a healthy yummy lunch. If you get the Costco coupons you can save $3.75 this month. Anyway, happy eating to you all!! Love, Angie

Quote from Stephen E. Robinson

I have been reading a book called "Believing Christ" that is so good. I just wanted to share a few lines that I thought pertains to this problem of the battle of the bulge. He is talking about the Brother of Jared and the natural man. He says " As long as we are in the flesh, we will have to wrestle with the flesh, with our carnal natures, and occasionally the flesh will win. ... We can expect this struggle to go on as long as we live. Each of us has experienced this opposition of the carnal self in one way or another. For example, from time to time I will tell my carnal self, "Flesh, today we are going to diet!" To which my flesh inevitably responds with something like, "In your dreams, Bozo," and then sets up the steady chant, "Hot fugde! Hot fudge! Hot fudge" This opposition of the flesh, the carnal self, is not something that we can overcome once and for all while in mortality. As long as we are in mortality, our carnal nature will be prone to evil continually, to paraphrase the brother of Jared. "
"My personal belief is that in the resurrection the opposition of the flesh will finally be overcome. In mortality, the spirit and the body are two separate entities forced to coexist in the same person. The mortal connection between them is both recent and temporary, hence they wrestle and fidget with each other. But in the resurrection, body and spirit become one thing. They will be inseparably united, welded together, and will speak with one voice--the voice of the unified self, of the soul in the strict sense. But until then, we must wrestle with a separate, carnal self. And from time to time, even the best among us, like the brother of Jared, will lose a struggle."
Well, we must all continue on in the struggle. It is not something we can overcome once and for all in this life. We can celebrate the times of motivation and success and then learn to pick ourselves up when we lose our motivation and fall down, and just start again. We are not failures, we are just in a battle with the natural man. We can never give up! We just have to know that it will always be a constant battle! Here's to the battle. May our spirit's eventually win! I love you all. I'm still praying for my motivation to come back. I'll pray for yours too! Have a wonderful day!!! Love alway, Kimberly

It's Spring Time!

Hey everyone,
I think spring time is finally poking out it's head around here. The last two days have been absolute heaven. Sawyer has wanted to play outside all day long. Needless to say I haven't accomplished much so far this week. Sawyer got a terrible sun burn yesterday and has some rosey cheeks. I guess it's time to get out the sun screen. The sunshine has really boosted my spirits and I hope the winter blues are gone for another season. I think the sun will help all of us want to get out more and exercise. I can't wait for our girls retreat it's only a month away. Hooray!!!
Have a springy day,
Love,
Tara

Where is everyone?

I think that everyone lost their motivation. No one has been posting and everyone has been lally gagging about getting their numbers in. I guess it's a good thing that this ends next month. I actually don't know if that's good or not because I think that we all still have weight we want to lose. Let's get our acts together sista's.
Love,
Tara

Sorry - this isn't skinny related

I think I have been dwelling to much on my own problems. I just want you all to know that you are all in my prayers and that I am here for you anytime you need it. Thank you for all you do for me. I am sorry if sometimes I complain to much and ignore your needs. Whether I can actually do something for you, or just lend an ear, let me know. I love you all and am grateful that you are my sisters and my mom.
P.S. Angie and Tara, I am trying to convince Brett that I need to come down there for spring break! Wish me luck!

Can someone change this background?!

Hey, this background is pretty but it hurts my eyes to try and read the words over the print. Could someone who knows how, change it so the print is easier to read. Thanks- from the old lady Kim

I have the same problem!!!

We must all be related because we seem to have the same problem. I made a pact with Tara and Shelly on Monday that I wasn't going to eat sugar. We three handed it, " All for one and one for all". I did great all day until around 6:00 when I found in my purse the other half of the chocolate fudge heart I had bought on Saturday with Tara and Shelly. I had no power to resist it. I ate it all. Then on Tuesday I did great until scouts. We made model trains out of Zingers, frosting, pretzels, and all kinds of candy and chocolate. I ate so much I was sick. Then to top it off I ate a chocolate covered rice crispy heart from the candy store. Talk about DISCUSTING!!! Then Tuesday night after I was sick I read all your blogs and decided that I was going to go off sugar again for Reals!!! Like Shelly said, "NO MORE CANDY!" Your struggle with the candy bar Angie is so familiar to me too. I do fine unless it's around. I'm trying to get all the crap out of my house, but that's not always possible. I'm hoping by telling you all of my commitment that I won't cheat. HOPE!!! I haven't cheated once today and it's almost bedtime. Wahoo! Also Melissa, way to go on exercising when you didn't feel like it. That is me most of the time. I layed on my bed this morning after the kids left and I just wanted to sleep. I had to talk myself into getting up and use sheer willpower to get going. I did Oxycise and felt great after. I've decided to do it for a while and see if I can't break this plateau. Well gotta dash. Love you all so much! Thanks so much for posting!!! It gave me such a lift and the inspiration that I needed. Love always, Kimberly

I will start again tomorrow!

Shelly, I said that same thing today. No more candy. I was done. And then grandpa came over so I could cut his hair, and he brought me a candy bar. I was not going to eat it, I put it in a drawer. But it just kept calling me name. I ate it. The whole thing! Man I have a problem. Maybe tomorrow will be better!

Candy

I will not eat candy today! I will not eat candy today! I will not eat candy today! I will not eat candy today! I will not eat candy today!

I did it!

I felt yucky when i woke up this morning, and I surely had every excuse in the book to not exercise. Even after I got into my exercise clothes, i sat on the couch for a minute and thought, "I really don't want to do this." BUT, I stood my sorry bum up, turned on Jillian's mean bum, and got going. I feel great! I'm so glad I overcame that small temptation to not be the best I can be. Now if I can keep this motivation for the rest of the day...

What the crap!

Level two of the thirty day shred was not made for humans! Jillian is a freaking ox! Who the crap can do that? I can barely muster the strength to type after that, and i even changed a poo in the middle to get out of ten of the twenty minutes. YIKES! I do not recommend moving on if any of you haven't already. If you have moved on and you think it was easy, then just pretend I never wrote this...I thought it was easy too...if you did.

contrite in Manti from MOM

Dear Mama Jo's girls,

I'm at Kim's and being chastised for never writing on the blog. Since I didn't know how and nobody ever showed me until now, and I never remembered, I haven't done it. So . . . I'm doing ok, I think. Mostly I'm trying to just not eat so much and having some occasional meal substitutes with protein bars, etc. I have so much more to lose than the rest of you, but your persistence and knowing that I have to report is really helping me. Twenty pounds more would be fantastic for me, but it really needs to be 30 - 35 more - so I'll keep plugging along.

I love you all.

MOM

I Have Seen the Light!!!

This morning while I was reading my scriptures I finally saw the light. I know now why we are fat! In Proverbs 28:25 it says, " he that putteth his trust in the Lord shall be made fat." There you go. Since we all put our trust in the Lord we shall all be made fat. So we should just quit this contest and eat some Chocolate!!! Why are we killing ourselves?!? Really, this is just a little humor to brighten up your day. Get your hands off that chocolate!!! Love, Kim

No more juice fasts! Your body isn't getting old Kim, it is holding on to the fat because it thinks it is starving. You can't do juice fasts AND exercise like a maniac. You have to eat enough calories so that your body is satisfied and doesn't mind letting go of a few pounds. Sheesh! Please don't kill yourself...I love you way too much for that.
me

I'm getting old!

Hello all you lovely ladies! It seems like no matter what I do I am not going anywhere. Last week I exercised 5 days and did a 3 day juice fast of mostly carrot juice from fresh carrots from our garden and our frozen apple juice we pressed last fall. You would think that if you didn't eat food for 3 days and you exercised that much that you would lose more than .4 of a lb.!! Very discouraging!!! I think my body is getting old! Yesterday after 3 1/2 weeks of Level 1, I moved up to Level 2 of the "30 day Shred". I was sweating like a pig. Boy am I sore today! I am going to do it for a month and then move up to Level 3 in March. Maybe the harder level will help speed up my weight loss. We'll see! Well gotta run to scripture study. Have a great day! Love, Kim

Chin up!

We've been watching A LOT of Charlotte's Web around here, so Tara, I just want you to imagine me singing to you...chin up, chin up, everybody loves a happy smile! Twinkle, sparkle, let a little sunshine in! You'll be on the right side, when you're on the bright side...up with your chinny chin...chin up! All the while you can take on the part of Wilbur and dance around like a maniac and burn a few extra calories. :) Seriously though...hang in there. Do something you enjoy. Forget about your weight for the day. Be happy! I miss you!

Checking in

Hey everyone,
I am having the hardest time being motivated. I want to lose more weight, but I just don't have any energy right now. I have got to figure out a way to ramp it up again. Any suggestions?
Hopeless in New Harmony
Good morning! I don't have much to say - but I promised Kim. It is amazing how crappy you can eat when you haven't been grocery shopping in weeks and you are painting all day. A big thanks to Melissa for the only good meals my family has had since our project downstairs started! Thank you also to Mom, Melissa and Jill for all of your help painting. I never could have gotten it done without you. The stripes are finished and I like them. They are a little more contrasting than I wanted but they still look good. If anyone ever wants to do vertical stripes, Melissa and I are professionals now! Actually it was the easiest striping I have ever done! Thanks Melissa!
Kim, I hope you are hanging in there on your juice cleanse. I know it is hard, but you can do it! I hope you all know how much I love and appreciate you. Have a great day!!

Way to go Melissa!

Congratulations Melissa! You deserve to lose a few pounds after all the stress of moving! Don't forget to put a picture of what you buy on the blog. (I think Shelly has forgotten :) JK) Anyway, I miss you all. Have a great day! Love, Kim

Thanks a Million!

Thank you Shelly and Tara for posting today! I really needed it! I'm a slave to the scale too Tara, but I don't think I can go a week. I'm really addicted to it! :) Let me know how it goes. Sorry about getting mad at all of you for not posting. The worst thing I have called you is "fetchers", so I hope you'll all forgive me. Oh and I did say a few times that you guys are so dumb. Sorry! Of course if you don't post you're still fetchers! Ha Ha!! JK That's awesome that you lost some Shelly. I'm not moving much on the scale. I haven't missed a day of doing the "shred". That is a huge improvement for me. I am also staying off sweets. I did snack on too many chips at Devin's game, but at least I didn't eat the rice crispy treats. I can't wait until our girl's retreat! Just the thought of it keeps me going on rough days. Love, Kim

Slave to the scale

Hey everyone,
I have been a slave to my scale ever since we started this thing. I weigh in the morning, I weigh at night before I go to bed and I have even weighed myself in the afternoon sometimes, just because. Anyway, I decided that I am going to take a break this week. I weighed in on Monday morning and I am not going to weigh in again until next Monday. So far so good. I had to put my scale in my closet so I wouldn't be tempted, but I have stayed off it.
Love you all,
Tara

Sorry Kim!

Kim came to my house last weekend for a short visit. We had a lot of fun watching the Jazz game. Kim was of course really good while I ate pizza, chips and yummy salsa, and of course I had a couple of handfuls of M&Ms. I have since repented and have done really well this week so far. I am excited because I have already lost some. I am sure it is water weight, but at least it is something. Kim told me that she curses us all when she gets on to check the blog and no one has posted. I figured I better repent of that also so that Kim won't have to repent for calling me bad names! Kim I promise I will try my best to post more. I know it really does help me to do better when I have all of your support. So I just wanted to tell you all that you are doing awesome and you are all my inspiration! Keep up the good work! Have a great healthy day! Oh ya - what do you all think of doing vertical, two toned stripes in my basement family room?

Dance of Joy!!!

Hey all. I have made it a day and a half without cheating once. Can you believe it?! At round table last night I turned down rolls, layered jello, and cupcakes. It's a miracle. I feel like doing the dance of joy! I also did my shred video yesterday and today. I had to start over at level one again and I am so sore I can hardly move. I hate starting over! Oh the PAIN!! I want to keep my muscles in shape permanantly so I never have to be this sore again!!! Here's to keeping on track indefinately! Cheers! Pray for me to keep up my will power. Chocolate is sounding mighty good! No wait, it's YUCKY!!! Love, Kim

It's the same with the Manti- ite!

Hey Angie. I've been struggling too! I have not had any motivation or will power since before Christmas. Every day I say ok tomorrow for sure I'm going to be good. Half a day is the most I last. Last night after 2 bowls of icecream and a candy bar (among other things - too many to mention) I decided it was time to write a contract with myself. I did this several times when I was trying to lose weight after having a baby and it really helped, but it has been a few years since the last one. I wrote down specific goals and dates to reach them. Then I wrote how I was going to reach those goals: what I would and wouldn't eat and when I would eat- when and how often I would excercise. Then I wrote the rewards for accomplishing my goals and signed it. I have to read it everyday. Today I have been 100 % so far. I even exercised for the first time in a month and a half. I had to do it at noon after I had been to a scout meeting. It was a pain to change into my exercise clothes after I had already been ready for the day, and then change and get cleaned up again, but I did it because I promised myself. I really hope I can keep this up. It's hard, hard, hard! No doubt about it! It sure makes it easier though knowing I have my sister's and mom's support. So now that you all know about my contract it will be a little easier to be good knowing I have to report to you all. One of my goals is to wear my red polka dot dress to Isaac's baptism on April 10. If you come to his baptism and I'm not wearing it, then I give you my permission to beat me up!!! Have a great day! Please, please, please, everyone write something every week. It helps me sooooooooooo much!!!!!!!!!!!! Love, Kim

struggling in St. George

For some reason I just can't get motivated to quit eating junk. I have not gotten up and exercised for two days either and that does not help. Tonight I ate at in- and- out burger and then came home and ate some candy hearts. Help, I need to stop!!

Run outside in the COLD?!?! Are you CRAZY?!!!

So Tara and Angie, did you freeze your buns on your run? Doesn't sound like fun to me. I hate cold!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You guys are so awesome and inspiring, (and crazy :) ! ) Good luck to all of you on your goals. My goal is to win every month and take all the money!!!!!!!! Just kidding!!!! I just want to fit into my red dress!!!!! Well, I guess if I ever get back to exercising after over a month off I might get there someday! I wish one of you lived here and would exercise with me, and get me motivated! But alas, it is not be. :( Have a great day! Oh, and Tara, get your hands off of that chocolate!!! Love, Kim

Ahh, a new year

Hey everyone, I hope we are all still on the band wagon. Any new years resolutions? I am hoping to rev up the weight loss again. I lost my first 15 pounds in the first two months and I haven't lost much weight since. I have however continued to lose inches.
My goal this week is to lose one pound. There is still quite a bit of chocolate in the house, so I hope I can do it.
Angie, Jessica and I ran a 5K on Saturday in Kanaraville. It was called, "Freeze your buns run". It was fun to do it together. The entry fee went for scholarships for SUU.
Have a great day!
Love,
Tara

The Prize!

Hi all! I am posting 2 pictures of what I bought with my prize money for this month. I bought the wooden LOVE, the red garland, and the BE MINE heart. (The candles in the picture I already had). I am so excited to finally have Valentine decorations! I also bought the 3 boxes and put them next to my vase on my ledge. I love them. They match all my colors perfectly. Thanks for all your encouragement. I couldn't have done this without you guys. You should know that I am trying hard to win next month so I can finally get some St. Patrick Day decorations! :) JK I hope we all are close and may the biggest loser win! Love, Kimberly
